Newly promoted Posta Rangers FC honoured by Major.Gen Ali
POSTAL Corporation of Kenya(PCK) will continue to support the participation of their staff in various sports activities to develop talent and promote interaction and friendship amongst the youth,Postmaster General Major General(RTD) Ali Mohammed Hussein has said.
Ali made the announcement during a ceremony to award newly promoted side to the Kenya Premier League(KPL) Posta Rangers Football club at the Nairobi Railway club over the weekend. He lauded FKL/KPL for their efforts in developing and promoting the game adding that PCK strongly believes that sports and business have become inseparable and its for that reason that his Board and Management fully supports the participation of staff in various sports activities. In his message read by PCK General Manager Courier service Elizabeth Mwaura, the former Police Commissioner lauded the football team for qualifying for the KPL adding that the club will use the opportunity to market and sell the posta brand well. “The team has remained steadfast and consistent in their performance in the Nationwide League and I am extremely happy that what they have laboured for has now culminated into their joining the big boys in the coveted KPL for the 2010 season. I am confident they will once again use the opportunity to market and sell the Posta brand well’’ Observed Ali. “Indeed, Ali added, we have the capacity to serve everyone’s need from our wide range of products and services.This is why I take this opportunity to request FKL and KPL to consider us for business opportunities and make Posta your service provider of Choice’’ The team formed in 2006 has qualified to KPL come next season after finishing second to Mahakama FC. In recognition of their performance in the just ended Nationwide League, PCK feted the club with a sumptuous Dinner where the entire playing unit led by coach Peter Ambetsa, and team manager Yobes Ongeri were awarded with trophies. The colourful function was graced by Secretary General of the Kenya communication workers Union Benson Okwaro who insisted on the team to display discipline in their future endeavours, Club chairman Muktar Abdullahi, John Tonui(Manager Human resources planning),Alfred Saidi(Manager Employee relations & welfare),Ronnie Owino(Regional Posta Manager Nairobi), and Gichuki Njeri who is the Assistant Manager Customer services among other senior managers.
