Kamanda poised to come back
Former Sports Minister Hon. Maina Kamanda is poised to make a come-back to the August House after massive irregularities were detected in his Starehe constituency elections.
Kamanda had been defeated by controversial Bishop Margaret Wanjiru. Kamanda will be remembered for his near success at deporting Bob Munro, who over the years has been the stumbling block towards reform in Kenyan Football. In 2006, Kamanda came very close to having the Canadian immigrant thrown in a plane, an action which was only halted after the intervention of John Michuki's wife, who pleaded with her husband to halt the deportation. He was then a powerful internal-security minister with powers to halt the process. Current Minister of Internal Security Professor George Saitoti is said to not be a fan of Mr. Munro, aware of the manipulative and corrupt practices associated with the Canadian; most recent being single-handedly responsible for the creation of the Football Kenya Limited. Last year, Bob Munro once again thwarted three (3) attempts by the Kenyan Premier League Board to severe links with FKL, using his usual manipulative and corrupt practices. He is now officially known as FKL's fourth director, with all indications showing that he is a beneficiary of all the monies embezzled by FKL Chairman Mohammed Hatimy, whom he vigorously defends in KPL board meetings. Infact, KTN Newscaster Njoroge Mwaura should have mentioned his name in the news bulletin, as one of the people who have messed Kenyan football since it is due to Munro that Hatimy and Kasuve have continued sucking Kenyan Football dry. A return of Kamanda to parliament would be a step-forward in the path of football reform in the country. Comments (187) Views (1056) Date Published (Sun 7th, Feb 2010) ADVERTISEMENT
