Thika United collapsed to a humiliating 1-0 defeat in the hands of AFC Leopards in a Kenya Premier League(KPL) match characterised with many stoppages at the Nyayo National Stadium.
But Leopards were made to struggle before finding that early kill.Former Sofapaka winger Demonde Selenge scored the all important goal in the 38th minute with a thunderous shot after being set through by Itubu Imbem.

Thika's goal survived yet another narrow scare two minutes later after the goal when Captain Peter Mwangi rasping shot shaved the crossbar with Thika custodian David Okello well beaten.

Thika United came more forcefully in the second half with John Mwangi coming close to scoring in the 85th minute but he failed to control the ball while in a better position to score.

Leopards coach Chris Makhoka attributed his teams victory to teamwork and patiency.'This being our first win is indeed a motivation point.We hope to do better in our forthcoming fixtures.Slowly and slowly we are getting the right chemistry.God's willing,we shall come with something different on Wednesday when we face Sofapaka in a mid-week league match”Observed Makhoka.

Thika coach Juma Abdallah paid tribute to his players for a wonderful display despite the loss.'I will not blame my players.To me they played 100 percent perfect.We conceeded an early goal that stabilised us but we hope to come stronger on Saturday when we shall be hosting KCB in Thika”averred Abdallah.

At the Nairobi City Stadium,hosts Mahakama were held to a barren draw by Nairobi City Stars in a another KPL match.

Both teams lost numerous scoring chances with Mahakama enjoying lion's share with Clifford Alwanga and Benjamin Chaka squandering open chances with only Goalkeeper to beat .Nairobi City Stars will also blame themselves after Uganda import Jimmy Bagaye and Francis Thairu threw away open chances but developed cold feet infront of goal.

Sher karuturi fans broke into celebrations after their home-team defeated the visiting Tusker FC 2-1 in another KPL match that was beamed live by Pay television Channel Super sports.

The home team still buoyant after edging out Thika United a fortnight ago at the latter”s ground took the lead in the 30th minute through Jacob Omondi.However, the lead was short lived as the Ruaraka side levelled the score through Jockins Atudo in the 43rd min after heading home Victor Ali's cross.

Former Homegrown striker Allan Otindo scored the match winner in the 78th minute amid thunderous cheers to silence their visitors.

Tusker coach James Nandwa said lack of concentration and failure by his strikers to convert their numerous chances spoilt their day.'”We created so many chances but our strikers failed to utilise them.We had a good chance when Victor Ali shot hit the crossbar in the second half while Joseph Emeka wasted two clear chances.Otherwise, it was a good match, I have no complain to raise,” said Nandwa.
